We invite you and your students to the Maseeh College of Engineering and Computer Science’s Annual Design Competition on Friday, February 22, 2008 at Portland State University. These competitions provide opportunities for middle and senior high school students to engage in hands-on engineering projects while having fun. This year we have made every effort to make this an exciting adventure and learning opportunity for your students.
The main purpose of this activity is to promote interest in engineering and computer science areas of study by encouraging students to have fun by designing and building engineering projects. Students have the opportunity to:
- Learn by creating hands-on engineering projects
- Join Hundreds of Students and Compete Against Schools From All Over Oregon
- Win prizes and medals
- Tour the Maseeh College of Engineering and Computer Science at Portland State University
- Interact with PSU engineering and computer science students and faculty
Our contests are sponsored by engineering and computer science student organizations at PSU.
We will have a variety of prepared projects as well as on-site competitions.
This year we are excited to provide the following competitive events**:
Mousetrap Car, Egg Drop, Bridge Design, Edible Car, Trebuchet
**These devices are prepared in advance of the competition and are tested on the day of the event.
